STEP 1  -  INTRODUCTIONS

Get in touch with Kristen to discuss the projects on your mind & your home's specific needs. Let us know what your potential project budget & timeline is to help us determine some possibilities for you. If we schedule a design consultation together you'll complete a tailored questionnaire that will help us dive deeper into your project wish list.

STEP 2  - DESIGN CONSULTATION

This paid coaching session lets you tap into an architect's brain for design ideas & functional improvements. This is all some clients are looking for, while others use this meeting as our springboard into an immediate project. We discuss what is/is not working, determine design possibilities & limitations, and coach you to good design decisions going forward. Ideas are kept loose at this stage & a follow-up email with actionable items is included.

Click here for a list of ways to leverage a Design Consultation. Some clients purchase these as gifts for family members considering home improvements, which are often conducted virtually. *Interior and exterior work will require separate design consultations.

STEP 3 - DESIGN CONCEPT

Working at Wooden Table

This steps narrows down the ideas discussed & helps you visualize the transformation of your space into the very best solution. We consider spatial layout, lighting improvements, colors, materials & finishes. Schematic drawings may be included that show mechanical, electrical, plumbing, millwork or furniture layouts to ensure a contractor understands the comprehensive design intent. Since Construction Documents aren't always needed we don't spend your money there; instead, we provide exactly what is needed, with the contractor as a team member. Contractors handle all permit requirements.

If your vision changes or your wish list evolves, our way of working allows you to spend as much time as needed to feel confident moving forward. Some clients like to dabble & purchase additional concept packages.

STEP 4 - RENOVATION ROADMAP

This optional packet serves as an organized, quick reference guide. Having a comprehensive document that includes a summary, design specifics, site information and reference photos all in one place makes it easy to share with trade professionals... or friends!

3D VISUALIZATION

If you would like advanced visuals to better understand your design concept we can create photo-realistic color renderings or animated walk-through experiences. This is valuable to clients who like a more immersive experience or who need additional help visualizing certain details.

MORE PROFESSIONAL TIME

It's like having an architect on call. Once we've worked together through Step 3 add time as needed in 3-hour blocks. Ask us to custom design a media wall or select artwork & accessories. Have us shop with you or advocate for you at contractor engagement. Use this option to add on time with your architect as you need.

DOES A PROJECT COST  MORE  THIS  WAY?

No . . . for 2 reasons.

  • You manage how much you spend & where it is spent, rather than signing a long term, lump sum contract without knowing what you'll get in the end. Clients maintain better control of their project investment this way.

  • If you like the images you see on our website you'll probably love the ideas we put together for you. In the off chance you wouldn't, you still wouldn't ever need to redo the hard early work. You will have weeded out problems, narrowed down the possibilities & found at least 1 potential great solution...plus learned all of the reasons why through our coaching. Working this way offers minimal risk in discovering many great possibilities!
