Kristen Hoeflinger has been practicing notable design in the Washington DC area for over 25 years. Her award-winning residential designs exhibit a thoughtful approach to space planning, with a unique level of detail recognized by the Washington Post, Washington Spaces Magazine, Builder Magazine & HGTV. She graduated from the respected School of Architecture and Urban Planning at Virginia Tech while also studying Industrial Design,

An early career in modern, sustainable interiors lead to the role of Director of Architecture and ultimately brought her to her true passion, residential design, with with DC-based mentor Bill Feeney. Theory Home Design began taking shape circa 2010 and she has been a Registered Architect in Virginia since 2011. With a strong emphasis on biophilic design, she brings the beauty of nature indoors in both abstract and tangible ways, capturing the rejuvenating effects of our natural surroundings. 

Kristen lives with her husband & twins in Alexandria, Virginia, just outside of Washington DC. She enjoys teaching design to students & has fun with pottery & DIY. Outdoors you'll find her sailing on the Potomac or reading between camping trips, always looking for inspo from nature to fuel what she loves.
